History

In 2007, Christi Whiteside, Maija McAdams, and Steve McAdams were asked to write the educational plan for Voyager Academy in Durham, North Carolina. After this charter was approved, they began considering applying for a charter for their own home town, Raleigh. Over many months they created the plan for Endeavor Charter School. This plan is the result of a combined fifty years of teaching experience in preschool, elementary, middle, and high school, looking at what worked, what did not work and deciding how best to create a more effective educational experience for students and for teachers. These planners were soon joined by a dedicated group of parents who assured that their combined efforts and desire for a better learning environment for children would reach fruition. There was no way to know how the public would respond to this new educational concept until 1,200 applications poured in for the 378 available student spots. Despite the enthusiasm, it was, at times, a Herculean task to create something on such a grand scale where nothing existed before. Eventually, the school was up and running, and has hopes of adding on a high school in future years. The school is located on Forum Drive, on the old campus of Magellan Charter School.
